Nucleus Beehive Kit - 5 Frame Nuc Hive - With Mesh Base

A nucleus beehive is a compact 5-frame hive used to split a strong colony, catch a swarm, or raise a new queen. This kit gives you the box, lid and screened base you need to get started, and the mesh bottom board doubles as a varroa monitoring tray so you can drop-count mites and check for small hive beetles at the same time.

Why the mesh base matters

The screened bottom board with slide-out drawer is a varroa monitoring essential. Slide the drawer out to count natural mite drop over 24 to 72 hours, or leave it in for winter warmth. Also traps small hive beetles as they fall through.

Assembly

Box requires simple assembly with nails or screws (not included). Prime and paint the timber for years of outdoor use. Lid and mesh base come pre-assembled — nothing to build on those.
