5 frame folding nucleus hive made from corrugated cardboard (sometimes called Corflute) — a lightweight, weatherproof solution for selling nucs, catching swarms, or temporary housing. Sold in bulk packs of 5, 10, 20 or 50. Ships flat, folds together with a supplied entrance disc.
When to use a corrugated cardboard nuc

How to assemble
Fold along the pre-scored lines, tuck the flaps into their slots, and press the base together. Attach the entrance disc to the front. Full assembly instructions PDF.

Corrugated cardboard vs timber nuc — which is right for me?
- Corrugated cardboard (this box) — lightweight, foldable, weatherproof, best for temporary or seasonal use. Typically lasts 2-5 seasons if stored dry between uses.
- Timber nuc hive — permanent, painted, matches a long-term apiary. Better for keeping a nuc as a resource colony year-round.

Is it really cardboard? It's corrugated cardboard (sometimes called Corflute) — technically a corrugated polypropylene, so it's weatherproof and won't collapse in rain like paper cardboard would.
How long does it last? Typically 2-5 seasons if stored dry between uses. UV degrades the material over years — keep in a shed or under cover between deployments.
Do I need frames? Yes — this is a hive box only. Standard full-depth Langstroth frames fit. Pair with full-depth frames and full-depth foundation.
Why sold in packs of 5? These are commercial-volume items — the minimum order is one 5-pack. Bulk packs of 10, 20 and 50 also available at lower per-unit pricing.

Bad points .No instructions on folding , they are to long and frames come off the rests very easy , good points well ventilated , the doors work needing no modification and they are bee escape proof when closed up
These basic coreflute nucs are priced well and are great for selling nucleus colonies or catching swarms. They come flat packed and assembly isn’t difficult with included instructions. They are surprisingly sturdy once folded. To improve their usability, we replace the plastic entry-wheel pin with a small nut/bolt. We also insert timber shims on the frame rests to keep the frames from moving about. We’ve done the same with coreflute nucs sourced elsewhere, just something we do for peace of mind.

Hives were quite tricky to put together check the website I purchased from for video but couldn’t find one
Folding Nucs are generally of good quality. One of the 5 had a minor cutout defect but was extremely quickly rectified by The Bee Store by sending out a replacement. Always impressed with their prompt service.
I found the pins for fastening the entrance disks left them a little loose. For a tighter fit I replaced them with a 25mm split pin from officeworks. Works a treat.
