These 5 frame nuc beehive bases are made from New Zealand pine and 304 stainless steel.

The bases feature a mesh base for hive health, ventilation and small hive beatle management. The bottom board also have a removable draw tray to help trap small hive beatles. The bees chase the beatles around the hive and they fall through the mesh bottom. The beetles can be trapped by using chux cloth, oil or diatomaceous earth (check regulations in your state) in the removable tray drawer.

I am NOT complaining. It is what I expected. But ...

This base was a bit 'rough and ready' and was constructed without glue or screws - just large staples. And the SS mesh floor was ragged and sharp at the entrance. I purchased it expecting this quality as it was considerably cheaper than a competitor's glued-and-screwed option that was out-of-stock. Once I dismantled it and reassembled with glue and SS screws, fixed the mesh, sanded and painted it, it was just as good, and probably still less expensive. Be prepared, at least, to add some screws for longevity, and it will do the job just fine.
