The Uncapping Roller is designed to be used to uncap the honey cells by rolling over the capping to pierce the wax cell cappings. This method keeps the cells in tact and less wax is mixed with honey.

It can also be used to agitate the thicker honey (like jelly honey) that can become stuck in the frames before spinning out in an extractor.

Efficient uncapping roller speeds up honey harvesting while preserving comb structure

I used this plastic uncapping roller during my recent honey extraction, and it performed surprisingly well. Rolling it over capped honey frames punctures the wax quickly without tearing down the underlying comb structure like traditional knives sometimes do. This helps preserve drawn comb for future use and drastically reduces wax debris ending up in the honey. It was particularly helpful for loosening thicker, denser honey inside deep cells before spinning. The handle provides a comfortable grip, making uncapping faster and less messy.
