Lighter to lift — a full super of honey in Ideal frames is manageable for one person
Cut comb honey — the smaller size is well-suited to producing comb honey squares

How to assemble

Lay out the four bars per frame — top bar, bottom bar, and two side bars. Glue the joints (wood glue) and secure with 3-4 small frame nails or brads per corner. If wiring the frames, thread stainless wire through the pre-drilled side holes and secure with eyelets before installing foundation.

What foundation fits?

Grooved bars accept both wax and plastic foundation:

Ideal beeswax foundation — 46g per sheet, pure Australian wax. Beeswax foundation is generally used with wire and eyelets threaded through the side bars — the wire supports the wax sheet so it doesn't sag or collapse in warm weather.
Plastic Ideal foundation — see our foundation range. Plastic foundation is self-supporting and doesn't require wiring.

What do I need to complete a frame? Foundation (wax or plastic), wood glue, small frame nails, and optionally stainless wire and eyelets for wired frames (recommended when using beeswax foundation).

Sturdy frames and fits their plastic inserts perfectly- slightly smaller inside than others I have purchased due to stronger bottom bar (few mm all up - north complaints - compliments on sturdiness!)
