Double Roller Slit (DRS) Manual Uncapper

Regular price $299.90 $0.00

The DRS (Double Roller Slit) uncapper is a manual honey uncapping tool that opens capped honeycomb by pulling frames through two stainless steel slit rollers. No heat, no electricity, no knife skills required. Each frame is uncapped in one pass - push down, pull up, done.

Ideal for hobbyist and small-scale beekeepers who want a fast, clean alternative to hot knives, cappings scratchers or spinning uncappers. Fits every standard Langstroth frame size: Full Depth, WSP, Manley and Ideal.

How it works

  • Sit the uncapper on top of a tray.
  • Slide each frame down between the two slit rollers
  • The rollers score and lift the cappings on both sides simultaneously

Choose your package

  • Uncapper Only — DIY setup, mount on your own tray
  • Uncapper and Plastic Tub — includes plastic drip tray
  • Uncapper and Stainless Steel Benchtop Stand — includes stainless steel benchtop drop stand
  • Uncapper and Stainless Steel Uncapping Station — full 65cm × 56cm stainless station for volume work

All packages include the clamps to attach the uncapper to your chosen tray.

Why choose DRS over other uncapping methods?

  • No heat — no wax melting, no bee brood damage
  • No knife skills — much faster to learn than a hot knife
  • Fast — single pass per frame, no scratching or scraping
  • Works with all frame sizes — no swapping tools between Full Depth and Ideal supers
  • Low maintenance — 304 stainless steel rollers, HDPE body, easy to hose off

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a separate tray? Yes, unless you buy one of the bundles. The Uncapper Only variant needs to be mounted on your own tray or uncapping tray.

How long does it take per frame? About 5 seconds per side once you're familiar with it — significantly faster than a hot knife.

It’s so much quicker than hot or serrated lnife

It’s so much quicker than hot knife or serrated knife. There’s also so much less wax mappings. One major benefit of just slitting the comb and not slicing off the top of the comb is that the comb stays thick as thus stronger when spinning which allows me to spin it harder than before with much reduced comb blowout.

Double Roller Slit (DRS) Manual Uncapper

Easy to use, took about 5 frames to familiarize. Odd skinny frame tested me but after 6 hours can almost call me an expert. Give up the knife, this is your next step in beekeeping.

Stainless Steel Uncapping Station:

I think it’s a good unit haven’t tried it out yet
The only problem is the roller is not bolted or clamped to the turf so I have to clamp it down somehow once that is done should be good

DRS

It's been very successful. Most users are finding it very easy to use

Double Roller Uncapper

Takes less than 30 seconds per frame, less wax uncapping to deal with, more honey extracted per frame. Highly recommended
