5 Litre T-Bar Honey Press / Honeycomb Press - Wax Cappings & Fruit Press, Stainless Steel
5 litre T-bar honey press — a stainless steel press for extracting honey directly from honeycomb and wax cappings. The T-bar wingnut mechanism compresses the load through a perforated basket while the honey drains through a spout below. Great for hobbyists producing raw pressed honey, and also used by home cider, fruit-juice and tincture makers.
When to use a honey press
- Pressed honey from natural comb — preserves pollen, propolis and enzymes that centrifugal extractors leave behind
- Wax cappings extraction — squeeze the last honey out of your cappings before rendering the wax
- Small-batch fruit pressing — apples, grapes, berries, herbs and tinctures
- Beeswax rendering prep — clean, honey-free cappings press faster into blocks
How it works
Load honeycomb or cappings into the perforated stainless steel basket, fit the pressure plate on top, and turn the T-bar wingnut to compress the load. Honey drains through the perforations and out the bottom spout — a filter bag (included) catches wax and debris on the way out.

5L, 9L or 14L — which should I choose?
- 5 litre (this press) — smallest batch, great for hobbyists with 1-2 hives, small fruit runs, herbs and tinctures
- 9 litre — mid-range hobby size, standard bench-top press for regular home use
- 14 litre — largest, faster throughput, best for sideliners with multiple hives producing simultaneously
All three use the same T-bar wingnut mechanism and stainless steel basket construction — the difference is capacity.
Also for fruit and tincture pressing
Same mechanism works for cider apples, wine grapes, berries, herbs and small-batch fruit juice. The 5 litre size is popular with tincture makers pressing marinated botanicals and small home fruit runs.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to strain the honey first? Not through the press itself — the included filter bag catches wax and debris. Strain again through a finer sieve or muslin after the press if you want a crystal-clear final honey.
Can I press wet cappings? Yes — pressing your cappings before rendering the wax gets extra honey out and speeds up wax cleanup afterwards.
Is it food safe for other foods? Yes — food-grade stainless steel basket, food-safe coating on the outer frame. Suitable for pressing fruit, herbs and food-grade oils.
How much honey can I extract at once? Depends on how densely the comb is packed. As a rough guide, a full 5L basket of loose comb yields roughly 3-4L of pressed honey.
