Durable Foundation for Your Growing Apiary

I have been using these 10-frame full depth deep super boxes for quite some time, and they have become a reliable staple in my beekeeping operations. As a beekeeper in Prestons who is scaling up—moving from small batches of honey to selling honeycomb and larger quantities—I was looking for a cost-effective way to expand my hives without sacrificing structural integrity. These commercial-grade boxes offer the ruggedness of 22mm thick New Zealand Pine, providing a stable environment for the 10-frame setups I already use.

The 22mm thick New Zealand Pine is the absolute standout feature for me. This extra thickness provides superior insulation for the colony during those cooler South West Sydney nights and remains rigid even when fully loaded with honey, which can weigh over 30kg. I’ve found the dovetail/rebated joints to be exceptionally practical; they make the flat-pack assembly straightforward and ensure the corners stay square and strong over years of use. While the "commercial grade" timber might have some knots or minor discolorations, they have zero impact on the box's performance once primed and painted.

Pros
Substantial Insulation: The 22mm timber thickness is excellent for hive temperature regulation, protecting your bees from both extreme heat and cold.

Cost-Effective Expansion: Purchasing these as flat-packs allows you to build out your apiary at a significantly lower cost than buying pre-assembled equipment.

Standardized Compatibility: Specifically designed to fit standard 10-frame full-depth Langstroth frames, ensuring a perfect fit with your existing frames and foundation.

Cons
Assembly Required: As a flat-pack item, you will need to set aside time for assembly, and I highly recommend using a high-quality wood glue in the joints for maximum longevity.

Finishing Necessary: To prevent the New Zealand Pine from weathering or warping in the Australian sun, you must prime and paint the exterior of the boxes before they go into service.

Comercial grade full depth frames un-assembled.

Very happy with the quality. The eyelets were nice and tight in the timber, so they don't move while lacing the frames, and the delivery was fantastic. From ordering to delivered in 48 hrs.

Pretty average

These boxes are full of knots and are very average quality. I suspected commercial grade to be a good grading as I assumed commercial guys would use these. On the label on the pack it says ‚Budget Grade‘ Definitely won’t buy these again.
Shipping was nice and quick.
