These 8 frame beehive bases are made from New Zealand pine and 304 stainless steel.

The bases feature a mesh base for hive health, ventilation and small hive beatle management. The bases also have a removable draw tray to help trap small hive beatles. The bees chase the beatles around the hive and they fall through the mesh bottom. The beetles can be trapped by using chux cloth, oil or diatomaceous earth (check regulations in your state) in the removable tray drawer.

Available raw timber or wax dipped and painted. Wax dipping is a process many commercial beekeepers use to preserve the timber for a longer working life. The bases are dipped into a wax mix of 50/50 microcrystalline/paraffin and then painted 4 times.

Vented bottom board with hive beetle tray.

Gamechanger....... Great invention.
After having the wettest year ever (2022) my bees in Mudgee, N.S.W. were severely affected by hive beetle due to the damp conditions. Within an hour of pulling apart one hive and replacing the standard bottom board with a new vented bottom board the bees had chased approximately 300 beetles into the trap underneath. All that was needed to do was to add Hydrated Lime into the tray and fully cover the beetles and tray so that any beetle that enters is coated.
The next time I pulled the tray out there were hundreds of dead beetles and on further hive inspections hardly any were sighted in the upper supers.

Some good ideas but bad end product

The idea of the slide coming from the back is great. The tray depth though is too much. The mesh should also be able to be removed so that all of it can be painted easily if supplied assembled.

Pick up of 8 frame super

Peter was so abliging to allow me to pick up my item. I even ordered a rebate box rather than a dove tail box incorrectly which was swapped for the item I wanted. Great people to deal with and an excellent product. I will no doubt be back. Thank you.
